Rumor gave birth to an astounding seven kittens on May 26. Unfortunately we didn't take a picture of her before she gave birth, she looked like she swallowed a bowling ball. The birth, although long went well and the kittens, for the size of the litter had good weights.

Rumor has done such a great job considering there is a lack of space in her nest, which is wall to wall kittens.  The kittens hang out over the sides like cliff dwellers.  When it's play time there is always someone awake to chew on. 

On Aug 20th we lost one of Rumor's kittens. This kitten had an inoperable heart defect. This kitten was the smallest of the litter and was lagging behind its siblings in gaining weight. As the kitten grew it became increasingly difficult for it to overcome the defect. It is very difficult to lose a kitten, it has been years since we lost one but that doesn't make it any easier.

All the rest of the kittens are doing fine. They were checked and passed by our vet this week.

All but two of Rumor's kittens are off to their new homes.  Each one has given us a call and told us how great their new parents are, what good kids!
